Epic Games' weekly freebies include XCOM 2 this time around. While the game is six years old at this point, it is still well worth checking out, provided you haven't already, since it's one of the most beloved turn-based games in recent history. Alongside its predecessor from 2012, it is responsible for the massive spotlight turn-based games are enjoying today.
This fame didn't come undeservedly. The game features tens of hours of intense gameplay, be it through vital decisions on the battlefield or the precise plans for building your ant farm base aboard the Avenger.
Coupled with the massive customisation options and the storyline itself, the game manages to make a bond between the player and the soldiers they control, despite the majority of them being randomly generated.
As such, XCOM 2 offers a lot of fun to be had and having to pay nothing for it is certainly sounding like a great deal. You can simply go to the Epic Games Store homepage, log in and claim the game. If you don't want your address to be added to the mailing list for promotions, remember to uncheck the box at the checkout. The deal ends on April 21, 2022, at 8:00 AM PST / 5:00 PM CEST.
Insurmountable is also available for free until the same deadline, at which point the two games will be replaced by Amnesia Rebirth and Riverbond.
