The Outer Worlds 2 will be Xbox's first $80 game following the company's announcement of a game price increase earlier this year. Despite a pretty decent gameplay reveal and the deep dive that followed the Xbox Games Showcase, the price reveal seems to be the talking point surrounding Obsidian's biggest game yet.
Obviously, you don't have to spend that kind of money to play The Outer Worlds 2 since this sci-fi RPG will launch day one on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft's subscription service that costs $19.99 per month.
But enough about the price and let's talk about some of the stuff that Obsidian showcased this weekend. In the deep dive, the developers touched upon many of the game's features, including combat, story, companions, visuals and the inspirations behind the sequel.
I wholeheartedly recommend you check out the direct in the video below - The production is high quality and you'll get a couple of good laughs too.
One thing that is pretty obvious from the deep dive is just how much better The Outer Worlds 2 look when compared to the first game. It's bigger with large open zones, the combat feels smoother and snappier and the visuals have also been cranked up a notch.
Obsidian also promise their trademark writing and choice and consequence system so it really looks like a great package for everyone that loves Obsidian games.
The Outer Worlds 2 is also coming very soon. Xbox confirmed that we'll get to play it on October 29 (there's also five days of early access). The game will release on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. It's also on Game Pass, as mentioned above.
