Fortnite is finally getting one of the features that are usually used to keep live services ongoing for longer periods of time.

Ranked leaderboards are one of the most desired features in competitive games, which is why everyone was a bit confused why Fortnite never got the treatment.

Well, on June 9, 2023, Epic Games will finally introduce the ranked mode, giving people the incentive to climb the ladder and get better at the game, hopefully.

There is no exact date when the first season of ranked will end but Epic did say it will last as long as Chapter 4 Season 3 and each ranked season will follow the regular Battle Royale season schedule.

Players will be able to climb eight rank tiers in total - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion and Unreal. Diamond and lower will each have three divisions, with the third division being the lowest one in the tier.

Curiously, the players who reach the top tier, Unreal, will stay in it for the rest of the season, regardless of their performance in future matches. Granted, this is good to relieve some stress about climbing and maintaining ranks but we suspect this concept will become fertile ground for boosting services.

Ranked will be available in solos, duos and squads for Battle Royale and duos in Zero Build. Additionally, your initial rank will be decided by the past match performances before the leaderboards were added.

In other words, you don't need to bother with placement matches as the game will allow you to jump straight into ladder climbing.
