Riot Games' online hero shooter will launch with a total of ten characters or Agents. Five of them will be available to use right away while the other half will have to be unlocked.
Riot Games' upcoming online shooter Valorant will release with ten characters, the game's executive producer Anna Donlon confirmed. Valorant's hero roster will be completely free but players will have to earn half of them by playing the game.
Five Agents will be available to use right away to everyone while the other half will be locked. Players can unlock the rest of the Agents via an "engagement-incentivised model" which is similar to how Valoran't battle pass items will unlock.
"Players will have the option of earning in-game content through playing and engaging with the game, or they can choose to purchase desired content as a shortcut," Riot explained. Of course, this is nothing new and many games such as Rainbow Six Siege and Apex Legends already use the system.
