Winter Whiskers Preview - Grab your blanket and your snow vacuum

A cute, cosy game about clearing snow and helping a town of animals, perfect for relaxing as colder days approach? Count me in.

I absolutely adore cosy games, especially those where I can relax with a cute setting, fun art style, or adorable characters - preferably all of those together - so when I got a chance to preview Winter Whiskers, a game about clearing snow in a town full of animals, you know I couldn't pass that chance up.

You get to play as Milo, an adorable, tiny stoat who gets called in by the Mayor to clear out the snow before the upcoming Winter Festival, so the people of Winterlight Harbor can safely move around town without slipping and breaking a paw. The premise itself sounds cute, so you can just imagine what the game looks like. While the demo was rather short, I could already see myself sitting down and clearing out snow for hours while I wait for my tea to cool down.

Milo has his trusty snow blower and snow vacuum, which you use to make your way through town and clear out all the snow. You're also helping out your neighbors as you do that, as you can expect how easy it is for things to get lost in the snow.

The full game will bring more tools for Milo to use, but also the tasks of clearing ice and freeing frozen objects, so there will be a variety of activities to perform in the game. From what the demo shows, I believe there will be more areas to explore too, and when you need a break from all the work, you can simply sit down next to a fire, or maybe build a snowman from the snowballs you find as you're clearing snow.

The art style is cute and works really well in this setting; there is a little town with a bunch of cute animals all bundled up in their winter clothes. The music matches the game perfectly, it's cosy, whimsical, and fun, the kind you'd expect to hear in this game. It's not standing out too much, and it perfectly blends into the cosy aspect of the game.

Now, obviously don't expect any action-packed sequences or puzzles to solve; Winter Whiskers is a game you play when you need a break, and you just want to relax and clear some snow while listening to whimsical tunes.

Final thoughts

The demo was a perfect showing for the game, as it showed us a relaxing and charming world, and it definitely left me wanting to see more of the town and more of what else Milo gets to do. If the full game adds more areas, more tools, and more cosiness, Winter Whiskers will definitely be the perfect companion to have in the winter months that are ahead of us.

I'm looking forward to playing the full game, and since this is coming from someone who hates snow and especially hates clearing and shovelling snow, that means a lot.
