Grand Theft Auto 6 could arrive on PC much sooner than most people expected. GamesBeat report that Rockstar Games plan to release the PC version within the first three months of 2027, citing four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans.
If the report is accurate, PC players would be waiting only a few months after the November 19 console launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox. That’s would mark a significant change from GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Grand Theft Auto V launched on consoles in September 2013 and didn’t reach PC until April 2015, roughly a year and seven months later.
Rockstar haven’t confirmed anything
All four sources asked to stay anonymous to avoid damaging business relationships according to GamesBeat, and Rockstar themselves didn’t respond to request for comment. Rockstar haven’t announced a PC version at all yet, so treat the Q1 2027 window as just as a rumour at this point, rather than a confirmed date. Release plans can also shift, especially for a game this big.
PC has been the big unanswered question since GTA VI was announced. It matters even more because GTA VI seems to be running at 30fps on all consoles, with Rockstar saying they have nothing to share on a performance mode. For anyone who can’t stand 30fps, the PC version has looked like the safest route to a smoother experience, and a Q1 2027 release would make that wait much shorter than feared.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
