Valorant's newest act is finally here. The Episode 8 Act 3 update was released a while ago, introducing new content to the game, including changes to the map pool, weapon balancing, and agent changes.
While map pool changes and weapon balancing have faced a few mild changes, the two most beloved agents in the community, Cypher and Viper, were heavily nerfed by the new update. These new changes will completely change how these two agents are used in the current meta-composition.
All Agent Changes in Valorant Episode 8 Act 3 update
With the Episode 8 Act 3 update Riot Games has decided to nerf Cypher and Viper. Cypher's massive buff caused him to become the number one sentinel pick for most maps. As for Viper, most maps from the current map pool require players to run Viper to cover different sites at once. Here's a look at all the new Cypher and Viper nerfs:
Viper Changes
Viper's changes with the newest update are heavy nerfs to her Snake Bite, Toxic Screen, and Poison Cloud. Here's a complete look at the changes:
Snake Bite (C)
- Quantity reduced: 2 -> 1
- Price increased to 300
- Duration increased: 5.5 Seconds -> 6.5 Seconds
Toxic Screen (E) / Poison Cloud (Q)
- Max time of poison changed: 15 -> 13.5 -> 12 seconds
- Minimum fuel required to activate increased from 20% to 30%
- Reactivation time after turning off is now: 8 -> 5.5 -> 5 seconds
- Poison Cloud can be picked up during the purchase phase.
Cypher Changes
Cypher's changes with the newest update include a new audio system that will alert other players once they are visible on Cypher's camera. Aside from that, the tripwires were also nerfed by receiving changes to their reactivation time and slow duration. Here's a complete look at the new changes:
- Enemies being watched by Cypher's Camera. Will now hear audio as they are being watched.
- Tripwire reactivation time increased from 1 Second to 2 Seconds
- Tripwire Slow reduced from 2 Seconds to 1.25 Seconds
While Cypher and Viper were quite balanced to begin with, it'll be interesting to see how players work around these new nerfs in competitive, premier, and unrated game modes.
