Beyond Good and Evil 2 20th Anniversary Edition is real and it's coming sometime in 2024, Ubisoft officially announced today. The publisher promised to share more details about this special version but until then, they had to clarify some screenshots that appear online.
The screenshots of the Anniversary Edition left players disappointed as it's clear from the comparison that the original version is superior in terms of visuals, which is very odd.
However, Ubisoft commented on this, stating that this build was released to Ubisoft+ subscribers by mistake and does not reflect the quality of graphics in the final game.
"An early development version of Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition was recently released to some Ubisoft+ subscribers by mistake. We apologize for any confusion and want to assure our community that this version is not indicative of the final game," Ubisoft said in a statement on their social media.
That should certainly ease the fears that Beyond Good and Evil fans had when they laid their eyes on the new screenshots, which look quite underwhelming to say the least.
Ubisoft confirmed that Beyond Good and Evil 2 Anniversary Edition will feature several major improvements over the original release including the following:
- 4K resolution and 60 FPS
- Improved graphics, audio and controls
- New autosave system
- Cross save
- New speedrun mode
- New achievements and rewards
