Striking Distance possibly surprised the fans with an announcement that The Callisto Protocol has gone gold, meaning the game is complete and ready to ship.
Considering the game is still a month and a half away, set for December 2, 2022, release, the news is a vote of confidence for its state of it since the devs will either be polishing it further or taking a well-deserved break in the remaining time.
That said, "going gold" used to be a guarantee a game was completed but CDPR tarnished the term when they delayed Cyberpunk 2077 after it supposedly went gold.
There isn't much reason to doubt the readiness of The Callisto Protocol though as the game has been in development for a healthy duration of time without major vision shifts and it's much smaller in scope than CP2077 was.
As such, fans of the Dead Space series who have been starved for so long will be ecstatic to see a similar adventure ahead of them, even if it's not Isaac Clark's exploits they will go through.
With that in mind, there is nothing to stop The Callisto Protocol from spawning its own trilogy with memorable characters in tow.
