Masahiro Sakurai, the man behind mega-popular games like Kirby and Super Smash Bros considers Cyberpunk 2077 his dream game and was particularly moved by how refunds were offered to console players.
The man who brought us Kirby series and mega-popular combat title Super Smash Bros. Masahiro Sakurai shared his thoughts on CD Projekt Red's latest title Cyberpunk 2077, in the last Famitsu column.
Sakurai wrote that he was moved by how Polish developer offered refunds for the game on PlayStation and Xbox. As you may know, many players experienced bugs and performance issues that made the game completely unplayable, which resulted in removing the game from PS Store and offering refunds to those who wanted they money back.
Furthermore, Japanese designer states that beyond bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 is a dream game and he supports it with the bottom of his heart. Here's the interesting bit regarding Cyberpunk 2077:
"Cyberpunk 2077 is a dream game. I wonder how much planning and production was needed. Having a multi-platform release for an AAA title is at a level where that’s enough for me to say that it’s wonderful. I support this game from the bottom of my heart for sincerely dealing with [the refunds]."
He added that during his playthrough on the PS4 Pro, he did not encounter any problems as the game was mostly running at 30 FPS. However, on PC, Sakurai encountered bugs multiple times.
It's safe to say that Kirby creator summed it up quite nicely. Cyberpunk 2077 certainly is one of the best games of 2020 but it's a real shame that CD Projekt Red did not take more time to polish and optimise the game for all platforms.
Hopefully, they will deliver with upcoming patches and updates.
