According to Kinda Funny's Imran Khan, Insomniac Games could release a new Spider-man game sooner than we expect. Apparently, the game's release window is set for Holiday 2021.
Marvel's Spider-Man was one of the best games of 2018 and more importantly for the publisher Sony and the developer Insomniac Games, it sold like hotcakes, breaking numerous records in the process. For these reasons, it's safe to say that Insomniac Games and Sony will look to give us more Spider-Man games in the future but as expected, it may be too soon to talk about it now.
However, according to a former editor at Game Informer, now Kinda Funny podcast host Imran Khan, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could be coming sooner than we may expect. Khan didn't reveal much but he did say that he knows a lot of details about the game, which could mean that the development of the game is well underway.
"I know too much about Spider-Man 2, so I can't speculate too much. I think a Spider-Man 2 will come sooner than we think," Khan said. He also mentioned "Christmas 2021" as the potential release window for the new game.
Many would say that holiday 2021 isn't really sooner than expected since it would be roughly three years after the release of the original title. It's possible that Insomniac started working on a sequel as soon as they wrapped up the development on the first game to have the next one ready as soon as possible.
Since Play Station 5 is also just around the corner (Holiday 2020) and Sony probably want to offer a lot of great titles in the launch year, the Holiday 2021 release window for Marvel's Spider-man doesn't sound that surprising. It's one of the best exclusives that Sony currently own after all.
However, just like any other rumour or unconfirmed info, take this one with a grain of salt until Insomniac and Sony officially reveal the game.
