After many months of speculations and leaks, Sony are finally set to announce the PlayStation 5 Pro tomorrow - Tuesday, September 10, 2024 - according to the official announcement on their blog.
Sony invited the players to join a nine-minute technical presentation that will be hosted by PS5 Lead Architect Mark Cerny, focusing on "innovations in gaming technology".
The stream will be broadcast in English on the official PlayStation YouTube channel at 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET / 4:00 PM BST.
The stream runtime seems a bit on the short side. If Cerny is indeed set to reveal the PS5 Pro then it will be a very quick presentation, probably focusing on some of the highlights of the new console. Certainly don't expect a nerdy deep dive like the one we got with the PS4 Pro.
PlayStation 5 Pro is rumoured to be 45 per cent faster than the base PlayStation 5 with two times faster ray-tracing performance.
It remains to be seen what other innovations and features Sony are bringing with the Pro but it's safe to say that all these fancy new things will make the console one expensive piece of hardware.
At the moment we don't have credible leaks on the price but don't be surprised if the disc version is priced at $649 or even $699.
Sony will certainly want to seize the opportunity and try with a higher price given that Xbox don't have any plans for their upgraded Series X console.
