Ubisoft are finally set to launch their swashbuckling action-adventure Skull and Bones in March 2024, after many, many years of troubled development.
Skull and Bones is supposed to be one of those live service games that will require a lot of your time given that Ubisoft plans to add new content on a regular basis, starting soon after the game officially releases.
Today, the publisher provided more details on those post-launch plans, as well as the game's endgame mechanics and content. Skull and Bones' endgame will consist of players taking control of trade routes, taking over and upgrading various manufacturing facilities to maximise their profits.
Players will be able to take over these manufactories in Hostile Takeover and Legendary Heists mode. The former is a PvP-like mode where players will battle it out against each other for the manufactory while the Legendary Heists are raid-like events where players work together to take down enemy AI and seize control of the facility.
Additionally, there are other PvP modes, treasure hunts and limited-time events. Ubisoft also promise to introduce new endgame features in the months following the launch.
Skull and Bones Year 1 roadmap
Skull and Bones' Year 1 content roadmap will feature a total of four seasons with the first one dubbed Raging Tides. Each season will last for three months, introducing free new characters, battles, events and rewards in the traditional seasonal content fashion.
For Holidays, players can look forward to Halloween and Lunar New Year events. Pretty much your classic live service stuff.
All in all, after such a long time in development hell and many delays, it looks like Skull and Bones will finally launch on February 16, 2024.
The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Ubisoft+ subscription service.
