Rumours regarding the Red Dead Redemption 1 PC port are doing rounds on social media X and gaming forums today. Everything kicked off when a well-known Rockstar Games fan and reporter Tez2 shared a screenshot of website strings that have been discovered on Rockstar's official page after the recent update.
The strings include mention of the PC release for Red Dead Redemption 1 which sent PC players into a frenzy, especially when Tez2 clarified that this is indeed real and how Rockstar promotes their other titles like GTA 6.
"RDR ProductPromotion_Intro_Body: Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare a€" now playable on PC," is the line that was discovered on the website.
Before you get into full hype mode, we must mention that officially, there are no announcements or even teases from Rockstar regarding Red Dead Redemption 1 on PC. The company never mentioned that they have any plans for such a release so take everything with a grain of salt.
Rockstar have been releasing their classic titles as remasters recently so it certainly would not be surprising that we see the iconic western come to PC but until officially announced, take everything with a grain of salt.
If the game is indeed coming to PC, as someone who loves modding and modern graphical features like ray tracing, I'm hopeful that the port will come with both mod support but also some visual enhancements, just not those GTA remaster-like enhancements. No one wants that.
We'd assume that Rockstar are now fully focused on GTA 6, which is expected to launch in 2025, so it may take a while before we hear about Red Dead Redemption 1 PC port.
Nonetheless, the rumour is incredibly exciting and we can't wait to see if more more clues are found on Rockstar's website in the coming months.
