Hopoo Games and Gearbox Publishing have offered a roadmap where they displayed when and which features will be added to Risk of Rain 2 over the development period. The roadmap also mentioned the game will launch during Spring 2019.
Risk of Rain 2 may be officially launching in about one year but the game will be getting a pile of updates leading up to that event.
For example, the June 2019 update will add a new survivor, stage, a new boss, gear and items. Therefore, those with Early Access to Risk of Rain 2 have new content to look forward to in just over a month or so but it will continue with several other updates, leading up to release.
There are three major updates that will happen during summer, fall and winter 2019. The summer update will bring the skills 2.0 overhaul which may be the highlight but it will also bring a full set of additional content just like the one in June. A new survivor, boss, stage, gear and items will all be added so technically, summer 2019 will see two sets of additions in Risk of Rain 2.
Fall 2019 update will not have a new stage though. It will add a new boss, a new playable survivor, items and gear once again but this time around players will get access to hidden realms which should offer more content to explore.
Winter 2019 update will bring the good old set of new content, except this time around there will be a new stage instead of a new survivor. The unique part of this update will be Artifacts 2.0 to keep the things fresh.
As we noted previously, Spring 2020 will bring the game up to version 1.0 which means the launch day will happen in this period. It will once again feature a set of new additions, similar to that of summer 2019 update except for the skill overhaul.
