Valorant is 5v5 strategic shooter from the creators of League of Legends, Riot Games. Released on June 2, 2020, the game has made its place as one of the best shooter titles in the competitive scene.
The ability-based shooter is only available on PC through the Riot Games client and Epic Games. With time, Riot Games ventured the game out to an official mobile port, which is going through extensive beta testing in China.
Surprisingly, there were no plans to release Valorant on consoles; however, in a recent turn of events, Riot Games has announced that Valorant Console's limited beta testing will go live soon.
Valorant Console’s Limited Beta will go live soon
In a recent twitter post, Riot Games announced that the limited beta testing of Valorant console will go live on June 14. The beta will only be available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan for the time being. It will be available for the next-gen consoles, Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5.
Riot Games has confirmed that the Valorant console will not feature a crossplay system to maintain full competitive integrity; rather, it will be an independent port for the console only.
However, Riot has issued a statement mentioning that Valorant console will feature cross-progression system, which means players can use everything they own and have unlocked on PC.
Players can register for the open beta through Valorant's official website. However, they can only play in the limited beta if Riot Games provides them with a key, which will depend on the player's region and account eligibility.
Valorant's move to console is surprising considering its one of the hardest games to master due to its complex gunplay system and ability-based gameplay.
However, considering how well Valorant has been running on mobile systems, we can expect the console port to provide players with a decent gameplay experience.
