Riot Games is introducing Retake, a brand-new 3v3 post-plant gamemode in Valorant Season 2026 Act 4. Here's everything you need to know.

Valorant‘s newest game mode will force players into all-boom every round. Riot Games announced Retake as an all-new gamemode that removes round setup and places players directly into live action post-plant.

Economy rounds and slow map takes won’t exist in Retake. Instead, players are immediately placed into rounds with the Spike already down. Retake is Valorant‘s new 3v3 round-based gamemode that places one team at the site while the other must force a defuse.

One team will have the advantage of defending while the other will have to attack right off the bat. Gamemode plays like an endless series of clutch rounds.
Teams will switch sides each round, allowing players to attack and defend as the match progresses. Whoever reaches five round victories first wins the match.

These rounds are short enough that you can play a full game of Retake between warm-up rounds and your first ranked match. Weapons, armour, and abilities are dictated by a card system.

At the beginning of each round, players will select two cards. One card generates weapon/armour options while the other provides ability options. Each card will provide two random selections for players to choose from.

The options provided will increase as rounds progress, unlocking better weapons and more useful utilities in the late game. Retake rounds will take place on existing Valorant maps.

Rather than create a brand new arena for Retake, Riot is re-purposing individual bomb sites from their current map pool. These replicas will serve as the game’s many bomb sites, providing players an opportunity to practice common post-plant scenarios. No word on what maps will be included just yet.

Retake will launch with Season 2026 / Act 4 on June 24, 2026 with Patch 1.3.0. Players can look forward to more information in the coming weeks.

Make sure to check out the new Retake gamemode when it launches this Summer. Those looking to work on their post-plant game will surely find Retake a helpful addition to Valorant’s pantheon of game modes.
