Housemarque's roguelike shooter Returnal is off to a slow start in terms of sales when compared to other PlayStation exclusives according to early sales data from the UK physical retail charts.
Sony's brand new PlayStation 5 exclusive Returnal has been receiving great reviews from both gaming media and players with a couple of minor issues here and there. However, it seems that the sales performance is not quite as strong as reviews. According to the early UK physical sales chart , Returnal's sales are below what we've seen from previous AAA PlayStation exclusives.
Of course, this does not have to mean that the game is performing poorly when it comes to sales. There's plenty of factors to consider like the low stock of PS5, the high price of the game and another AAA title that is launching this week - Resident Evil Village.
Also, the sale number does not include sold digital copies, which can be a bit misleading overall. Sales should, of course, rise as more consoles come to market.
Here is the GfK Top Ten for the week ending May 1, 2021:
- New Pokemon Snap
- Returnal
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- FIFA 21
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Grand Theft Auto 5
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
