The UI in Bethesda games was always criticised for not being the easiest to navigate and impractical but there's something about it that makes it iconic, whether you love it or not.
Starfield is another Bethesda RPG that follows the developer's UI design standard from previous games like Skyrim, with a couple of changes here and there. Some fans hate it, others find it decent but a few love it.
That's why Redditor turbokacperel decided to share a new design on the Starfield subreddit (in the image above), which shows a lot more information, makes navigation look much easier and even shows damage resistances and status effects on the screen among other things.
On paper, the inventory UI design you see below looks somewhat similar to The Witcher 3 with how it solves the inventory tabs, gear and the character showcase. It does look easy to use but since this is just a concept and not a full-fledged mod, we'll never know, unless, some modder decides to fully recreate this stunning work.
Some Starfield fans on Reddit are arguing that the UI is too PC-focused and that people with controllers would have a hard time navigating it while others are hoping that Todd Howard sees it and decides to tell to his Starfiled UI design team at Bethesda to take a look at it.
Obviously, that won't happen as Bethesda never did such thing in the past so unless you install a mod on PC and on Xbox Series X|S consoles once the modding becomes available, you're going to have to deal with the current UI, which isn't that bad to be fair.
Starfield is out now in early access for PC and Xbox Series X|S. The Standard Edition of the game releases tomorrow - September 6, 2023.
