Starfield is officially the biggest game launch in Bethesda's history, it's been announced. This epic sci-fi RPG has already surpassed six million players across PC and Xbox Series X|S platforms, which is certainly an incredible achievement for Bethesda and Microsoft.
Obviously, Starfield is available on Game Pass so it's somewhat expected that some of those 25 million subscribers will dive into this new universe created by Bethesda. However, the game already had an impressive player count in paid early access, where only on Steam, the concurrent player number reached 260k.
Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer revealed yesterday that "Starfield exceeded 1 million concurrent players across all platforms".
These numbers are indeed very impressive but the biggest concurrent player count is probably coming over this weekend, when Starfield is expected to hit its peak numbers, so keep an eye out for announcements from Microsoft and Bethesda regarding this.
Starfield is surely becoming a big hit and potential system seller for Xbox Series X|S, which is exactly what Microsoft expected it to be.
And since this is a Bethesda game, expect to see it ported to new Xbox consoles, which should be released in three to four years.
It may not reach as many platforms as Skyrim did since it's exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem but despite that, it is going to be a game that is played for at least a decade.
