Ubisoft has taken Rainbow Six Siege offline following a major exploit. This issue has “affected” all players and accounts, with extremely strange activity being reported on the game’s main live-service and account platforms.
Reports began to surface late December 26 and in the early hours of December 27 of what players are describing as “infinite exploit” activity. Accounts were found to be gaining large quantities of Renown and other premium currency, with certain players also reporting “super rare” cosmetics that normally cannot be acquired.
Players are also reporting that the rewards were acquired with “no purchases, matches, or other player actions.” The scope of the problem is unprecedented and has been reported by many different players across many platforms, which is the reason Ubisoft has taken all of the game’s core services offline.
Issue has affected all systems
In the time since the activity first began to be reported, Ubisoft has made official statements confirming what players have described in-game.
In addition, players discovered rare and normally unobtainable cosmetic items in their inventories, such as:
- Glacier weapon skins
- Developer-exclusive cosmetics
- Large quantities of Alpha Packs
Ubisoft initially described the problem as a “service incident” and has since confirmed that all Siege servers and the in-game marketplace will be offline for all players and across all platforms.
Systems that are offline include:
- Account verification
- Matchmaking
- Marketplace and in-game purchases
At the time of writing, Ubisoft has not issued any official statements or comments as to what caused the issue or how widespread the problem is. It is also unclear when players can expect the game’s core services to come back online.
