Escape from Tarkov players that have logged in since the 1.0.1.0 patch received a nice little surprise. For the first time, the game has a proper progress bar for loading into raids.
Previously, the loading screen was just a blank screen, and players were left with no idea how long it would take before deployment. For a game that prides itself on tension, realism and unforgivingness, this is a quality-of-life change that players have wanted for years.
It doesn’t make queue times any shorter, but at least it finally gives players some semblance of feedback.
What the new loading bar shows
The new UI element visible when deploying into a raid shows loading progress in real time. Rather than staring at a static screen with no feedback, the new system provides a few useful indicators:
- A progress bar that shows where you are in the loading process
- Estimated time remaining before deployment
- Total time already waiting
This makes it much easier to make decisions like whether it’s worth staying in queue or backing out to try again later, especially during peak hours or server strain.
Why this change matters to long-time players
Escape from Tarkov has always had long, unpredictable loading times. In some cases players have waited well over 10 minutes just to enter a raid, with no indication of whether something was wrong or the queue was just slow.
Patch 1.0.1.0 doesn’t address the underlying performance issues, but it does help players control their time. Being able to see an estimated wait gives players more information to make decisions rather than sitting in limbo.
Accuracy still needs work
Feedback so far suggests the estimated times are not perfectly accurate yet. Some players report loading into raids more quickly than the UI says, while others experienced even longer waits than the bar indicates.
That said, most agree that imperfect information is better than none. The progress bar sets expectations, which goes a long way in reducing frustration.
