Sony have today rolled out another PlayStation 5 system software beta update with several quality-of-life improvements and new features, including the option to adjust the brightness of your console's power indicator.

Selected PlayStation 5 beta update participants in the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany and France can now access the latest system software update for their consoles, Sony announced. The new update introduces several quality-of-life enhancements but also new features.

One of these new features includes share screen interactions, allowing you to draw lines and send emoji reactions on a shared screen and highlight certain objects or areas to guide the host.

In addition, there's a new option in the PlayStation 5 settings that controls the brightness of the console's power indicator - you know, that blue light that can be a bit annoying, especially in a very dark room. Luckily, the upcoming update will introduce three options - Dim, Medium and Bright (Standard) - allowing you to tune the light's brightness to your liking.

The DualSense controller will also receive a neat set of improvements and the most notable one is the enhancements to the built-in speaker. According to Sony, controller speakers will be able to produce higher volume sounds after the update. You will be able to adust the volume in settings, if thigs get a bit too loud for your liking.

Additionally, the team improved noise cancellation, mic input quality, background noise from button presses and game audio have been suppressed, to have a better voice chat experience.

All in all, it's a very nice set of features and it's great to see Sony still bringing improvements to their console and controller. PlayStation fans will certainly appreciate the dedication.

Since these are not officially released features, they may not make it into the final version of the update or may receive additional changes.

Sony did not provide the release date for this update but usually, the global rollout starts a few weeks after the beta launch so expect these changes on your console later this month.
