Kojima Productions studio have revealed a new trailer for their highly anticipated sequel to the action-adventure Death Stranding.
Just like the rumours suggested a couple of days ago, the sequel is officially titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. It will be coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 sometime in 2025.
The new trailer gave us a much better look at the new locations we'll be visiting, including large rocky terrains, sand dunes but also neon-soaked cities. We also got to see new characters, including the reveal of the main villain, played by Troy Baker.
Other stars that will appear in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach include Elle Fanning, Shioli Katsuna, and Mad Max: Fury Road film director George Miller.
Some of the story bits that Kojima Productions shared in the press release reveal a very interesting premise, confirming that Sam will travel beyond UCA to save humanity from extinction.
Visually, the game certainly looks breathtaking which is not surprising given that it's using Sony's powerhouse Decima engine, built by Guerrilla Games. You can check out a bunch of stunning in-game screenshots in our gallery below.
In addition to this lenghty Death Stranding 2: On the Beach trailer, Hideo Kojima also had another special surprise. He is working with PlayStation on a brand new action espionage IP currently titled Physint.
Kojima said the game will be created using cutting-edge technology and feature photorealistic graphics. The announcement video featured Kojima and PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst in one of the big studios at Sony-owned film company Columbia Pictures.
"It will be created using cutting-edge technology and the best talents from around the world, both from film and video games," Kojima said on X. "Of course, this is an interactive game, but the look, story, theme, cast, acting, fashion, sound, etc... are all at the next level of Digital Entertainment that could be called a movie."
Physint will take a while so don't expect to see it anytime soon. If we had to guess, we'd say it's probably set to release on PlayStation 6 since Kojima Productions are quite busy with the development of Death Stranding 2 and Xbox exclusive Overdose.
