Chinese developer S-GAME have officially confirmed that their highly-anticipated hack and slash RPG Phantom Blade Zero releases September 9, 2026 and is now availble to wishlist.
The stylish action RPG emphasising fluid martial arts combat and soulslike difficulty will be available on on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and PS5. The game is console exclusive to Sony's platform, meaning no Xbox and Switch version is announced yet.
Four-minute trailer showcases combat spectacle
The new announcement trailer runs four minutes, demonstrating fantasy environments, new characters, fast-paced swordplay, and massive boss encounters. Visually it's stunning and in terms of gameplay it flows beautfully with smooth animations that blend martial arts choreography and magic.
I'm not sure about some quick time events that can be spotted in the footage but hopefully, that's just a minor feature that we won't see that often.
Xbox version still absent
Phantom Blade Zero's lack of confirmed Xbox and officially announced PlayStation 5 console exclusivity marks another high-profile soulslike skipping Microsoft's platform. Black Myth: Wukong previously launched on PlayStation 5 and PC without Xbox Series X|S versions, frustrating the console's souls-like fans.
Whether Xbox versions eventually materialise after the 12 month exclusivity expires, it remains to be seen. My guess is that the game will come to Microsoft's platforms but long after PC and PS5 versions.
