S-GAME
S-GAME is a Chinese independent game developer based in Beijing, founded in 2011 by Liang Qiwei, known online as Soulframe Liang. A graduate of both Tsinghua University and Yale University with a master's degree in architecture, Liang built the studio's foundations on Rainblood: Town of Death, an RPG Maker game he created as a student that garnered over four million downloads and led directly to the founding of S-GAME. The studio began with four people who had only met online, and has since grown to around 140 staff across Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles, supported by investment from ZhenFund, NetEase, and Tencent.
S-GAME spent its first decade developing mobile games for the Chinese market under the Phantom Blade franchise, which grew out of the Rainblood series and accumulated over 20 million players. The studio has since pivoted entirely to PC and console development with Phantom Blade Zero, its first major global release. Conceived as far back as 2017 and in full-scale production since 2022, Phantom Blade Zero was revealed at the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023 to significant international attention. Phantom Blade Zero is scheduled to launch in September 2026.
