Blizzard nerfed Brigitte once again as they apparently just can't catch a break with the hero and Overwatch's balance keeps hanging in the air. Then again, this may have been a pre-emptive strike before open queue.
Role queue was not a particularly welcome addition to Overwatch, despite it getting rid of terrible team compositions with six damage dealers and maybe even more importantly - GOATS. The latest Overwatch patch restored open queue to Competitive, although role queue will remain as well.
The way this will work is that both will have separate ladders and Skill Rating (SR). This way, the teams from open and role queue will not meet each other while playing and the two queues will be completely separated. It is good for the players in the sense that everyone can choose the queue they prefer but it will likely affect the queue times negatively.
With the return of the open queue, teams could potentially go back to playing GOATS composition that pretty much everyone hates. It completely excludes damage dealers and is pretty much unstoppable.
To that end, Blizzard nerfed Brigitte once again, the champion that's the staple of the composition. Her health packs will no longer provide armour when overheating and the shield will work differently. It now has 50 health more than before but regenerates slower, at the rate of 85 per second as opposed to 100 before.
Furthermore, if the shield gets destroyed, it will be on cooldown for five seconds instead of just three. Overall, it should make Brigitte not as sturdy but with three tanks and two additional supports, once has to wonder whether that will impact her performance.
