Blizzard are looking to turn Overwatch's meta on its head by nerfing heroes that are crucial to dive comps and by the extent to GOATS. On the other hand, some heroes such as Doomfist, Junkrat, Mei and Hanzo are getting buffs. Yikes.

Dive compositions have been extremely strong in competitive Overwatch for a while now, with GOATS being chief among them. For those unacquainted, GOATS sometimes consists of Reinhardt, Zarya, D.Va, Brigitte, Lucio and Moira but a variation here and there can occur. The main strength of this composition is the potential to isolate one target, pile up on it and make the enemy team fight with one teammate less as soon as possible.

A few changes to Overwatch PTR have been added before, but the more recent additions clearly spell out Blizzard want to get rid of such comps. Lucio is getting a few nerfs, such as his Speed Song movement buff being reduced to 20 per cent from 30 per cent. Furthermore, his wall run speed has been decreased and Amp it up now buffs Speed Song by 50 per cent instead of 70 per cent. Bum rushing should be more challenging now.

Zenyatta is one of the favourite picks for dive compositions and a viable substitute in GOATS. He is getting hit as well, as Orb of Discord will now amplify damage by 25 per cent instead of 30 per cent. His basic attacks were slightly buffed to compensate, but amplifying damage from other teammates shouldn't be overwhelming, or at least less overwhelming now.

Reinhardt, Brigitte, Orissa and any other armour wielders are getting a collective nerf as it will no longer mitigate damage over time effects, such as Ashe's dynamite. Beam weapons are also getting buffed since they work differently against armour now - instead of the damage being reduced on each tick, they will just have 20 per cent flat damage penalty against armour. For reference, it was close to 50 per cent with the old system.

Knockbacks and slows now work on flying heroes so a Mercy that is under her ult's effects can be knocked back and interrupted while attempting to resurrect an ally. On the other hand, speed boosts seem to work on flying allies as well, which can potentially provide some plays of the game from downtown, provided you have in your team.

Some of the heroes that piss the most of Overwatch community off on regular basis, such as Mei, Hanzo, Junkrat and Doomfist are all getting buffed. You can preview the initial set of changes on the first and the additional changes on the .
