Players' hopes for Overwatch 2 were already low but it looks like Blizzard still found a way to disappoint them, as well as possible onlookers.
Namely, the game has already been slow to deliver new entries in the lore or any kind of engaging presentation that could compare to the heyday of Overwatch.
Back then, there were touching cinematics with beautiful stories but now it seems like all the players will get is more wait since there are no plans for additional story content until 2024.
A recent interview snapshot, caught by Games Radar, revealed that players shouldn't expect story content in the next two seasons, which translates to no story content for the rest of 2023.
While it may sound painful for the fans, it is the new reality of how Blizzard will run Overwatch 2 and drip feeding content is a part of that strategy.
It is quite ironic that the story content is so rare these days since having more of it was one of the selling points for the transition to Overwatch 2.
At least it didn't get the PvE treatment by being entirely scrapped from Blizzard's future plans. Then again, it remains to be seen whether the new stories will be any good as the newer heroes don't seem nearly as deep as the ones from the original game are.
