Whether it's the awesome interconnectedness of the first Dark Souls' areas, the crazy and virtually unlimited builds of the sequel or the amazing boss fights of Dark Souls 3 that appeal to you, you will be glad to hear that the trilogy is on sale via Steam Summer Sale.
All of the games are discounted by 50 per cent, which is pretty good for a series that has gone through issues that caused to be temporarily removed from the virtual shelves entirely.
The fault was not that of the games themselves but rather potential hackers that could invade your PC instead of the instance.
In any case, there are a few things to keep in mind if you are new to the series. For example, Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin are sold separately and you definitely don't need both of them.
Both versions caught flak for cut corners but we would still suggest going for Scholar of the First Sin edition because it is adapted for 64-bit systems and comes with all the DLC.
Keep in mind that this is easily the least-loved part of the series so don't feel bad if the game starts cheesing you with bad hit detection, even worse enemy placement or cheap tricks like invisible foes in a foggy forest.
If you get the entire trilogy, we would also suggest going in the chronological order of releases in order to familiarise yourself with the mechanics properly, which should make Dark Souls 3's already fantastic boss fights even better.
