Amazon Game Studios announced that they will remake one of the starting zones in New World previously but it will now become an endgame area instead.
This means that all the housing and ownership will be removed, which posed several questions about the players' belongings in the area.
So when Artemist invades the lands, she will bring more nature and wooden enemies about, the town will be evacuated and everyone involved will be compensated in some way.
Those who own housing in First Light will be refunded the house's cost but the tax paid so far will not be. This makes sense because the taxes weren't paid for future usage after the invasion but rather the convenience and customisation up to that point.
Any items that were in First Light storage will not be moved elsewhere. Instead, the furniture from the aforementioned housing will be moved there as the storage will still be accessible somehow.
The fort, which is usually the subject of PvP clashes, will be moved elsewhere and the associated bonus along with it. Future patch notes will reveal more details.
It is currently unclear how or whether the owners of First Light will be compensated for their investments.
When the expansion rolls around, the players will be able to go through the thorny wall Artemis erects around the First Light and deal with the enemies there in order to engage with the new content.
