A new DPS hero named Venture is coming to Overwatch 2 in Season 10. Overwatch 2 Season 10 will begin on April 16, and players will have the opportunity to experience Venture through a limited-time trial period from March 28 to March 31.

Like every other season, Overwatch 2 is releasing a new hero in Season 10. This time it's going to be a new DPS hero named Venture, who is the latest addition to this category after Sojourn.

Even though Venture was teased at BlizzCon, Blizzard only showed the early version of Venture, with a lot of texture and elements still missing.

The Blizzard team also didn't provide much details on this new DPS hero. They left the fans thirsty for more information, as their primary target was to build up hype and get the players excited.

However, the new trailer for Venture gave us more insight into what their abilities and gameplay would look like. So here's what we know so far about Venture:

Who is Venture?

Venture is the first non-binary hero in Overwatch 2. Hailing from Canada, they have been the subject of speculation for some time, but details about them remain scarce.

Venture is an archaeologist who seems to have a passion for thrilling journeys. They are often described as daring and adventurous by friends and foes alike

What are Venture's abilities?

Here's an overview of Venture's abilities:

Burrow

  • Move underground and become invulnerable. Emerge to deal damage

Drill Dash

  • Dash forward, pushing enemies back

Smart Excavator

  • Launch a seismic charge that bursts after a short distance

Tectonic Shock

  • Send out damaging shockwaves

Explorer's Resolve

  • Using abilities grants temporary shields

 Clobber

In the recently released trailer by Blizzard, viewers got a glimpse of the Venture's abilities in action. Venture's primary weapon, the Smart Excavator, resembles a drill and is capable of launching seismic charges.

One standout ability showcased in the trailer is burrow, which allows Venture to move without being detected or taking damage. This ability could significantly enhance gameplay by enabling players to evade enemy ultimates and strategically position themselves.

Venture's ultimate ability is tectonic shock, and it has two passive abilities: Explorer's Resolve and Clobber. These passives contribute to both Venture's defensive and offensive capabilities, making them well-suited for engaging in close and mid-range combat scenarios.

Venture's Release Date

Overwatch 2 Season 10 is set to commence on April 16, and with it comes the official introduction of Venture to the game's roster. However, players will have the opportunity to experience Venture much earlier through a limited-time trial period.

From March 28 to March 31, players will be able to participate in the trial and test out the abilities and playstyle of the new Damage Hero. Play trials have been a valuable initiative in the past, allowing fans to familiarize themselves with new characters ahead of their official release, and this trial period for Venture is expected to follow suit.

Starting Season 10, Overwatch 2 will adopt a new approach to their hero accessibility and unlocking system. All heroes, both existing and upcoming, will be unlocked and available for all players at no cost.

It means that not only will all current heroes be playable for free, but also any new heroes introduced in future updates, including Venture. This shift in policy ensures that players have equal access to the game's diverse roster of characters, promoting inclusivity and accessibility for all players.

So grind out the remaining season 9 battle pass, prepare yourselves for the launch of season 10, and "add" Venture to your roster. Pun intended.
