Season 10 of Overwatch 2 is scheduled to launch on April 16 for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Blizzard studios made significant changes to heroes on this season as well as Venture to their permanent roster.

The biggest highlight for Season 10 is the introduction of Venture, the latest DPS hero, who has undergone adjustments since their initial preview in Season 9 of Overwatch 2.

Blizzard announced that Venture will be available to all players for free and accessible in competitive play immediately, unlike previous heroes. On the balance front, some tweaks have been made to their abilities, such as Drill Dash trading impact damage for increased damage over time, and a 30% reduction in Tectonic Shock's vertical knockback.

Developer Comments: "This is a pretty major change from past heroes, but we’ve always wanted to allow new heroes into Competitive when a new season for Overwatch 2 launches. In the past, we wanted to make sure new heroes were free of any bugs or outstanding balance issues, as well as giving players enough time to unlock a hero from the Battle Pass. Because of the recent hero trial, we’re confident Venture is ready to jump into the action right away."

All Updates To Tank Heroes

Doomfist

  • Doomfist's Rocket Punch's empowered punch is no longer consumed when the windup is canceled by using Seismic Slam or Power Block.

Developer's Comments: "Developer Comments: This quality-of-life improvement streamlines the transition between charging up an empowered Rocket Punch and another ability by removing the requirement of pressing the cancel input first."

Junker Queen

  • Junker Queen's Carnage's impact damage increased from 90 to 105.

Reinhardt

  • Reinhardt's Earthshatter knockdown duration increased from 2.75 seconds to 3 seconds.
  • His Earthshatter's shockwave range increased from 20 to 25 meters.

Wrecking Ball

  • Wrecking Balls's Grappling Claw allows you to pull yourself towards the anchor point. Just hold the jump input while the Grappling Claw is attached to terrain to retract it.
  • It now has a one second cooldown if Wrecking Ball never reaches ramming speed before canceling the ability. Interrupting him with Hack, Hinder, and stuns will still trigger the full cooldown.
  • Grappling Claw's maximum duration timer no longer triggers unless he reaches ramming speed.
  • His Adaptive Shield can now be reactivated to redistribute up to 300 overhealth to nearby allies, capping at 75 per person.
  • His enemy and ally detection radius increased from 10 to 13 meters.
  • His Minefield's health increased from 50 to 60.

Developer's Comments: "The general goals here are to add a direct way for Wrecking Ball to support his allies aside from purely enemy team disruption, make the hero more approachable while also adding more avenues for skill expression, and improve quality of life around the grapple."

Additionally, Overwatch 2 introduces Clash, a new game mode, featuring a trial period with the debut of the Hanamura-inspired map, Hanaoka. Clash involves teams vying for control over five objectives and will remain available until April 29.

Furthermore, significant updates have been made to ranked play. Grouping Restrictions have been eliminated, with teams now categorized into narrow and wide groups based on the skill rating (SR) difference among players. The developers believe this adjustment will help combat smurfing by allowing players of varying skill levels to queue together.
