It's a sad day for Overwatch fans as today ActivisionBlizzard's arena shooter is closing its doors for good. As you probably know by now, this globally popular title is being sunset since Overwatch 2 is taking its place.
Activision Blizzard are preparing for the release of the highly-anticipated sequel, which is set to release tomorrow - Tuesday, October 4, 2022. So yeah, today was your last full day to play the original game, and we hope you spent some time with the hero shooter that took the world by storm over the last six years.
Overwatch devs also included a heartfelt message to all Overwatch players, to say goodbye to their shooter and hype up the release of Overwatch 2 at the same time. "Even the best journeys end, but a new one is right around the corner. Thank you, heroes! See you October 4th!"
It's certainly a bitter-sweet moment for all Overwatch fans who spent years and years with the game. Now, we'll be getting a bigger and better game in Overwatch 2 but we doubt anyone will forget their best moments.
We sincerely hope that Overwatch 2 will manage to be at least as successful as its predecessor and offer us plenty of great moments and tense matches.
Of course, a lot of free updates and content.
The king is dead, long live the king!
