People Can Fly released a trailer for their upcoming looter shooter, Outriders, which confirmed that the new launch date is set in 2021 rather than the next holiday season.
Outriders is a game that will try to mash Gears of War and Borderlands together, taking the genre from the latter and aesthetic, gameplay and perspective from the former.
While the service type of looter shooter games may present a saturated market, there are those who are willing to give Outriders a shot and have been waiting for it to release alongside the next-gen consoles during the holiday season of 2020. However, the new trailer that you can see below noted that the new release date is set for February 2, 2021.
People Can Fly also announced that full crossplay support will launch from the get-go, which could potentially be an interesting part of playing with friends, regardless of their platforms. Besides that, smart delivery on Xbox Series X confirmation means that the game will automatically detect whether Xbox players are on Xbox One or XSX and will give them settings appropriate for the console generation.
Sony side of current-gen consoles will not be left out as both PS4 and PS5 players are getting the game too.
Considering that Destiny 2 and The Division 2 seem to be struggling to keep players interested in shooting bullet sponges, Outriders might find its footing in the narrative which the devs are touting as one of the focal points of the game.
We all know the other two games could use more work in this aspect.
