Another unpopular decision in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is soon to be reverted. The normal Gunfight mode that was replaced with Gunfight OSP will return in a future update.
In the last playlist rotation update, Infinity Ward have removed the normal Gunfight mode, replacing it with another variant of the mode named Gunfight OSP. In normal mode, all players start with the same loadout, which makes the matches all about skill while in the Gunfight OSP, players get to pick one of the various weapons laying on the ground.
The majority of Modern Warfare community prefer the original Gunfight mode and were not happy with the rotation. Even some popular streamers like Ninja voiced their discontent recently. "I feel like Gunfight was one of the best game modes to grace FPS in the last decade. It’s really unfortunate that Activision is making so many ridiculous unnecessary changes to the game mode," Ninja wrote on his Twitter.
Luckily, Infinity Ward and Activision often rotate these modes and by the looks of it, the normal Gunfight will be coming back pretty soon. A Multiplayer Designer at Infinity Ward and the co-creator of the Gunfight mode David Mickner replied to Ninja's tweet, reassuring the streamer and the rest of Call of Duty community, that normal mode will be introduced in a future update.
"Normal Gunfight will be back soon, but I'll use this as ammunition to keep it around the next time we run a limited-time mode variation of it," Mickner replied with a little wink at the end.
At the moment, it is unknown when exactly will Gunfight return but it wouldn't be surprising to see it re-introduced in just a couple of days. It's one of the most popular, if not the most popular modes in the game.
