New World - PvP arenas will be almost worthless next season

Amazon Game Studios are about to enrage their audience once again with changes that throw PvP players under the bus.

New World introduced several artefacts that are earned through PvP tracks when Rise of the Angry Earth was released, which caused many players to farm PvP experience through 3v3 Arenas as they proved to be the fastest way to do it, provided you win enough.

Amazon Game Studios will change this in a brutal manner on November 12, 2023, when Eternal Frost season kicks in as PvP experience gains from the Arenas will be reduced by 52 per cent.

The devs are aiming to compensate for this by increasing War and Outpost Rush gains by 220 per cent which sounds good but only on paper.

Arena wins previously awarded 2,500 PvP XP, same as War and Outpost Rush victories. After the change, Arenas will go down to 1,200 per win which could take only a few minutes while the other two activities will go up to 5,500 per win, although they take more than 20 minutes in the vast majority of scenarios.

Considering they take a whole lot longer to complete, it is clear that AGS just wants players to farm through the more time-demanding activities in order to milk the engagement numbers and this is coming at the detriment of those who preferred smaller, more controllable PvP encounters.

New World - It's been a very long time since a game managed to excite me over a loot drop. Rise of the Angry Earth awoke a feeling I thought to be long gone
Better farm your artefacts before the new season starts

Wars don't happen often enough to be a reliable source of farming PvP XP while Outpost Rush is an extremely chaotic ordeal with no matchmaking whatsoever, which is why matches often end in landslide victories.

Additionally, the mode is not enjoyable for people who genuinely want to fight other players as it's mostly decided by whose zerg is bigger at any given moment.

More importantly - New World's optimisation is still wretched, meaning you will have to play with potato graphics and still count yourself lucky if the game doesn't turn into a slideshow due to the huge number of players and visual effects on screen. In other words, players who could enjoy Arenas but not Outpost Rush due to the performance issues are now completely out of luck, especially because the mode now lacks any semblance of an appealing reward.
