Outpost Rush, one of the most popular activities in New World is getting a few improvements in the Brimstone Sands update.
New World was originally envisioned as a primarily PvP game but as time went on, it started getting more and more PvE content but the PvP roots can still be experienced through multiple activities.
One of the most popular ones is Outpost Rush which has a fair share of problems, some of which will be addressed in the Brimstone Sands update.
For example, the reward system will become better, especially for those with gear slots that are under 600 Expertise.
OPR's reward chest will now have a guaranteed Expertise bump, making it a decent way of moving up your armour and weapon stats. Additionally, getting a named OPR weapon to over 600 Gear Score will cause it to become Legendary and provide it with an additional perk.

One thing you might be worried about while getting Expertise up is the disadvantage you will fight with due to low GS but it shouldn't be that much of an issue as the update will also bump your effective Gear Score to 600 so you don't get instantly deleted by overgeared players.
However, you are still highly likely to get instantly deleted by the teams of musket players who are ruining everyone's fun these days and unfortunately, that particular issue has not been addressed yet.
