Obsidian Entertainment's upcoming medieval RPG Avowed will be "very different" from Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls series, says Xbox head Phil Spencer. The game will have its own distinct characteristics that will make it a unique experience.
Avowed is one of the hotly anticipated Xbox exclusives from Obsidian Entertainment, the creators of Pillars of Eternity, New Vegas, The Outer Worlds and Grounded. The game is as you may expect, a full-fledged RPG, set in the Pillars of Eternity universe and will be a first-person only.
Shortly after the official reveal, players started to compare Avowed to Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls series, which is, of course, expected given that these two are very very similar in many aspects, and Bethesda and Obsidian already have quite the rich history.
However, it seems that Avowed may not be that similar to The Elder Scrolls franchise at all. When asked about the game and the comparisons to Bethesda's title, Xbox head Phil Spencer said to IGN that Avowed will be "very different" from The Elder Scrolls, with its own distinct characteristics that will make the game unique in its own way.
Spencer also added that Xbox want to give Obsidian both the time and resources to make the best game they can, which is certainly encouraging for the fans who are eagerly anticipating the first gameplay reveal of Avowed.
