Today we have a brand new rumour regarding the next Ghost Recon game from Ubisoft. According to the report from reliable industry insider Tom Henderson, players can expect a new Ghost Recon title sometime in 2025 at the earliest.
Henderson's report does not mention a more specific release date so we don't know when exactly in 2025 could the new Ghost Recon game release. Previous Ghost Recon games like Breakpoint and Wildlands were released in October and March respectively which makes it a bit hard to predict when the next game could launch.
The report also reveals that Ghost Recon 2025 is codenamed Project Over and will be set during the fictional Naiman War. This probably doesn't tell you much but after a quick investigation on Google, we discovered that Naimans were a group of people settled in Central Asia, more specifically Western Mongolia.
This potentially tells us that the game could be set somewhere in Central Asia, potentially even a fictionalised Mongolia. This would truly be a fantastic setting for a Ghost Recon game as the region is rich with various biomes including sprawling steppes, snowy mountains, pine forests and plenty of stunning green meadows.
These new details are certainly exciting and we can't wait to see the game in the near future but we must note that you take everything with a grain of salt as none of this is confirmed by Ubisoft.
While it's safe to assume that a new Ghost Recon game is probably coming in the next year or two, it's always better to keep your expectations in check until everything is official.
If the new Ghost Recon game is indeed coming in 2025, we should probably see it sometime later this year at the Ubisoft Forward event or another big summer games showcase.
It's been over four years since Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, the last instalment from Ubisoft's beloved military open-world shooter franchise.
Since then, Ubisoft tried to launch a battle royale title named Ghost Recon: Frontline but the project was cancelled soon after the initial announcement due to a huge backlash from fans.
The publisher then decided to focus on the next big AAA Ghost Recon game, which is for the best, as we really can't imagine a scenario in which Ubisoft's Ghost Recon battle royale would survive in the oversaturated shooter market.
