Assassin's Creed Codename Red, which is the next major Assassin's Creed game similar in scope to Odyssey and Valhalla, will reportedly dial down on the notorious quest markers and player guidance mechanics.
Apparently, the developers want to emphasize the exploration of the gorgeous Japanese setting by removing some markers from the map, which will bring Codename Red closer to games like Elden Ring and The Legend of Zelda series.
The information comes from reliable Assassin's Creed content creator j0nathan, who also revealed a bunch of other details about the game, including some new gameplay features.

j0nathan claims that Assassin's Creed Red will introduce several brand new gameplay mechanics like a grappling hook and the ability to go prone.
Players will also be able to extinguish torches to create hiding spots and some of the gadgets that will be available include kunai, shuriken, smoke bombs and bells.
Interestingly, a posture bar is also in the game and can be broken to destabilise enemies. Another new addition is a "spy system", which will allow players to spare major targets and use them as their spy who will then provide valuable information abut missions or side missions.
Obviously, this is just an unverified leak at the moment so take it with a grain of salt, until Ubisoft officially announce the first details and confirm whether this is true or not.
Assassin's Creed Codename Red does not have a release date but it is expected sometime in late 2024/early 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
