The Last of Us fans are still eagerly waiting to hear something official regarding the third game in this popular series from Naughty Dog but it looks like wait will be a little longer, as this PlayStation studio are not quite ready to talk about that just yet.
In an interview with EW, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann briefly teased Naughty Dog's future games but didn't really delve into details. He said that the studio are indeed working on "other projects" outside of The Last of Us franchise. As you probably noticed, that's plural, which suggests Naughty Dog could have two more projects in the works in addition to The Last of Us multiplayer.
Druckmann refused to comment on The Last of Us Part 3, saying that while him and the team love the franchise, they have no comment on the series' future at the moment beyond their focus on the recently announced The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and HBO TV series.
Sadly, Druckmann also didn't provide an update on The Last of Us multiplayer project, which is reportedly having troubled development and has been internally delayed recently. A while back, Naughty Dog said they would show a lot more of the game in 2023 but that didn't happen so expect news at some point in 2024.
We don't know much about this multiplayer title at the moment, but some leaks revealed that the game could be an extraction shooter like Tarkov with some single-player content.
All in all, Naughty Dog do seem very busy at the moment, working on several major projects, which is certainly exciting for every fan of this renowned studio. Hopefully, Druckmann and the co start talking more about these games in the coming months as we're very eager to find out what they've been cooking over the last couple of years.
