Soulslikes are a bit like mushrooms - a rain falls and a ton of them pop out from every crack in the market. This led to saturation at times but when all things are considered, there really aren't that many games in the genre.
Perhaps it is because studios and publishers don't feel like going for the risky undertaking of creating a brand new soulslike and competing with masters of the genre, From Software, but some indies come in as welcome breaths of fresh air from time to time.
Mortal Shell is one such game and it is currently on a deep discount on Steam, well worth checking out.

Keep in mind that Mortal Shell is pretty short, which is one of the main reasons players weren't completely enamoured with it. The other reason is that many found the final boss a bit dull but overall, the consensus is that this is a good soulslike that is trying to justify its regular price tag due to only offering about six hours of playtime for the first playthrough.
That said, with the 88 per cent discount, it is hard to make that argument since it will provide a fantastic adventure with challenging foes and fairly crisp controls.
Another one of the players' complaints was that the central hub attempted to emulate Firelink Shrine's interconnectedness from the first Dark Souls but since it's set in a monotone swamp, orientation becomes a bit of a chore.
In any case, with all the positives and negatives accounted for, Mortal Shell still ends up being an experience you shouldn't miss and barring any giveaways, it is hard to imagine you will get a better deal than this.
