Midnight Club 2 is one of the most beloved racing games in the history of the genre so it is no wonder people still want to play it two decades after release.
However, there are issues with launching the game nowadays and it seems like some fans managed to find the culprit - the fact that Rockstar Games used cracked versions of the game after selling it to people.
The best part is that it's not even the crack's fault that the launch is failing.
A few gamers connected the dots and figured out that Midnight Club 2 obtained through official means was actually the same one with the Razor_1911 crack.
From that point, it was easier to narrow down the cause of the launch issues, which turned out to be a combination of Steam's DRM and Rockstar failing to detect the conflict that would prevent the game launch.
The same issue is plaguing Manhunt but according to the same dev who dug up the info about the Razor_1911 crack, there are multiple other problems with that game.
In any case, it turned out that the crack itself works fine decades later while corporations managed to ruin yet another attempt at preserving legacy video games.
