Priced at $49.99, the Dark Soulslike action RPG sequel will let players choose between three launch editions; the standard edition, or the Devout Edition if players want more game time and cosmetics.

The Devout Edition, priced at $59.99, will net players 72 hours of early game access and Obsidian Skins for all eight Shells.Announcing a release date of August 20 means Mortal Shell 2 will avoid the busy launch window in September.

There are already several high-profile games set to release that month, so Mortal Shell will have more opportunity to reach fans of punishing action RPGs. Cold Symmetry released a new trailer alongside the announcement highlighting the vicious enemies and perilous encounters players can expect from the game.

While Mortal Shell 2 is a sequel to the original game, Cold Symmetry promises the sequel will be standalone. That means new players should be able to pick up and play without researching how to play the first game.

The development team plans to build upon everything players loved about the original game with more expansive worlds and over 60 dungeons to explore full of enemies to fight and secrets to uncover.

Players will once again take control of the Shell; gameplay systems that allow players to switch between different warriors and playstyles mid-game. Each Shell has different advantages that will let players experiment with their preferred tactics while fighting.

Three shells have been confirmed at launch. Each character has different attributes and playstyles. Tiel the Acolyte specializes in mobility and hit-and-run tactics.

Proxima the Broodseeker uses skills that force enemies into vulnerable positions while crowd-controlling foes. Eredrim the Venerable equips large weapons with high attack numbers to shred enemies.
