Nvidia have announced that Capcom's popular action-RPG Monster Hunter: World will be getting support for Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), which they claim will provide up to 50 per cent higher frame rates on Geforce RTX 20-Series cards.
According to Nvidia, Monster Hunter: World players who own the aforementioned cards will be getting the DLSS tech on 17 July 2019, but a quick check on the game's Steam page revealed it's actually Thursday, 18 July at 00:00am UTC.
As you can see from the graph below, the improvements are quite substantial, and while it's always good to retain a healthy dose of scepticism with in-house comparison graphs, at least until real-world test results are in, their earlier comparisons were spot on.
Namely, Metro Exodus and Anthem both received Nvidia DLSS treatments, and testing has proven that the tech works as advertised, almost to the proverbial letter, so it's all good news.
"Before the addition of DLSS, 60 FPS with the High-Resolution Texture Pack at max settings was simply impossible to attain in Monster Hunter: World. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, the world's fastest graphics card, topped out at around 47 FPS, and gamers using an RTX 2060 or 2070 were unable to hit 30 FPS at 4K", Nvidia wrote.
Monster Hunter: World will also come with a community-requested DLSS feature - a sharpness slider. Some players have found the tech to be a bit blurry at times, so now they're getting a convenient slider in the Display Options menu.
You'll be needing the Monster Hunter: World texture pack DLC, which is free to download, but requires a GPU with 8GB of VRAM or more. There's also the physical space requirement, and the texture pack will take up 40GB of hard disk space.
Once you've done that, go into Monster Hunter: World's Display Options screen, set the resolution to full screen 2560x1440 or 3840x2160 and turn on Nvidia DLSS.
