Ken's new appearance in Street Fighter 6 has been the subject of discussion among the fans and now we have a glimpse into the lore that caused him to look this way.
Street Fighter 6 changed the looks of the classic characters to signify their ageing but Capcom altered some characters more than others.
Cammy no longer has her braids and Ken looks like he has no home, although this is correct only to a limited extent.
He is no longer residing at his home but it wasn't his wife that kicked him out as he is in self-imposed exile.
According to the recently-released webcomic , Ken attempted to start his own tournament in a fictional Asian state but that didn't turn out so well since people there didn't like his shenanigans.
To add insult to injury, he got involved in cryptocurrency which didn't go well in Street Fighter universe either so he is now basically trying to right the wrongs of his own doing.

That is the reason why Ken is not in the fancy red kimono any longer and is mostly covering it with a coat that could easily make people mistake him for someone who has already lost it all.
In the meantime, Ken's son has another father figure in his life - Luke, who is also his bodyguard.
