Riot has revealed League of Legends Classic, bringing back Season 3 gameplay, the original Summoner's Rift, old runes, and 60 launch champions on July 29.

League of Legends Classic has been announced by Riot Games. It's a permanent-style game mode that aims to capture what playing Season 3 felt like. Classic champions, the original Summoner's Rift, old runes and masteries, old ward types, and plenty of other callbacks to early League are featured in this mode.

Arriving with Patch 26.15 on July 29, Classic attempts to capture the spirit of League's infancy, with some modern twists sprinkled in.

While inspired by Season 3 of League, Classic won't take you back to a specific patch. According to Riot, it's a carefully curated experience highlighting iconic moments from League's formative years.

Returning Season 3 Features

Players will be able to play original versions of every reworked champion, allowing them to see their abilities that have been lost over the years. Riot already teased champions that are coming to Classic in their original state, including Graves, Sion, and Urgot.

Classic will bring back many original systems from Season 3, which include:

  • Original Summoner's Rift
  • Classic jungle
  • Runes and masteries as they were before 2017
  • Summoner leveling up from 1-30
  • IP as the in-game currency
  • Classic and retired items
  • Classic shop
  • Battle Pass and token systems
  • Community voting
