Group draw has been completed for the next part of League of Legends European Championship and there are a few bangers in store for everyone.

League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Spring 2023 served up a few surprises for the fans as the usually weak teams such as Astralis and BDS performed in high fashion this time around, with the latter finishing the ladder on top while the former happened to be the runner-up.

Additionally, everyone was surprised that Fnatic managed to pick up a win, let alone four, which segued into a second surprise connected to the team - they made it into the groups.

After all the matches were completed, the teams got drawn for their groups, with Riot giving the top two the option to choose their initial opponents. Each group has four teams, the first loss knocks them down to the lower bracket, the second out of the tournament. The two surviving teams from each group advance to playoffs.

Group A

Astralis chose Fnatic as their opponent in the first best-of-three showdown while Vitality got to face off with MAD Lions. It may sound weird that AST chose a team that is currently in-form but then again, it was them who ended Fnatic's four-win-streak in the last match of Spring.

Group B

BDS will play SK Gaming while G2 will square off with KOI initially. Ironically, despite finishing the Spring Season on top, BDS ended up in the same group as the only two teams to beat them - G2 and SK.

After Groups completion, the playoffs will be held over the course of a week in mid-April and the winner will get to represent LEC at MSI 2023.
