Bethesda and Microsoft are working on Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remasters, it's been revealed in the latest leaked FTC documents.
Interestingly, the document shows that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster initially targeted FY 2022 release date. Obviously, that didn't happen so it's safe to assume that the game was internally delayed to a different date.
As for Fallout 3 Remaster, this one probably won't be coming soon as the target release window in the document states FY 2024, the same as The Elder Scrolls 6 release window and we already know that this one won't be coming until 2026 at the earliest.
The roadmap looks fairly outdated as it goes back to FY 2020 when Bethesda released games like Deathloop and Doom Eternal DLC.
Judging by the dates on the leaked roadmap and the actual release dates of some games, it's safe to say that the release dates of Fallout 3 and Oblivion Remasters probably got pushed back by two years or so.
One of the reasons for the delay could be the change in the ambition of these remasters. It's possible that Microsoft and Bethesda decided to do full-on remakes, instead of simple remasters with minor graphical improvements.
The roadmap also includes other unannounced titles like Dishonored 3, Ghostwire: Tokyo sequel and a brand new Doom game. There are a couple of mysterious codenames too including Platinum and Kesterel as well as a new licenced game IP.
If we had to guess, we'd say that we'll hear more about Oblivion Remaster at Xbox and Bethesda Showcase in June 2024 with a potential release date of late 2024.
Fallout 3 Remaster, on the other hand, could be a 2025 title, which would make a lot of sense as these are pretty big releases and it would be ideal to have them release year by year.
Hopefully, we'll hear more about both Fallout 3 and Oblivion Remsters very soon.
